Crafting Community at The Ace 2012
It’s hard to believe that Crafting Community is already over. I think we’re still coming to grips with the fact that the studio will no longer be filled with balls of yarn, tipi sticks, wooden beads, neon feathers and mason jars (amongst a million other materials and stacks of color-coded boxes). It’s true – letting go can be hard to do – until next year that is!
Anyway, we had a total blast this year with all the wonderful families and amazing artists who joined us at The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Big hugs to each and every one of you who pitched in and made this event a weekend we will always remember. It really means the world to us!
From lounging poolside on comfy Splendid pillows, trekking out in the desert with wilderness expert Scott Scott, underwater photography lessons, paper marbling, leather belt making (and painting!) to customizing Converse chucks, kids and their parents got in touch with their creative side and discovered the artist that exists inside each one of us. Yes – even you! Check out some of our favorite moments from the weekend and a fun video from Crafting Community dad, James Takata.

crafting community 2012
It’s that time of year again! Pretty soon, the boxes filled with pipe cleaners, wooden beads, Elmer’s glue and feathers will start piling into the studio! We have an AMAZING roster of artists and activities this year, so we’ll be seeing you poolside, yes?

new year, new work
Just finished up my piece for fresh stART, a wonderful annual charity art sale to raise money for art therapy programs for at-risk youth. May need to make this into a fabric tapestry (have not used that word since I decorated my freshman dorm room).
Here are the details for the show – it’s a great cause and a great opportunity to score some new art!

ella moss anniversary
Last week was busy busy busy at the studio, because we were making some gorgeous butterfly key fobs for the 10th Anniversary of Ella Moss! There were six lovely colorways and they looked good enough to eat on the manzanita arrangement made by our friend Neil at Gillyflowers. Kristen and I joined the celebration at the Eveleigh to help all the assembled fashionistas pick their perfect accessories (and in an unofficial capacity as hors d’oeuvre testers) – we had a blast!
